ROUND THREE
A GRADE GO DOWN TO SEATON
B’S WIN TWO IN A ROW

A GRADE – Pembroke 5.7 (37) lost to Seaton Ramblers 10.11 (71)

Playing in the wet for the first time this season, Seaton Ramblers were strong early and played the conditions better than us in the early stages. Henry Read presented well for the Kings in the first term, to keep us in the game with two first quarter goals. Seaton did have the better of the play and led by nine points at the first change.

In the second term, the rain continued to fall, the visitors much better in the conditions. The Kings backline was battling hard under constant pressure, as the visitors kicked away to add 3.3 to just two behinds to have a 28-point lead at the long break.

The third quarter saw Seaton goal early but then the Kings led by Tully Kennett started to get back into the game as Iannunzio goaled from a free and then at the 20-minute mark McRostie also won a free to goal to get the margin back to 22 points. Sadly for the Kings, Seaton got one just before the siren to move the margin out to just under five goals with a quarter to go.

Pembroke needed to get on the board early but a free kick to Seaton saw them goal at the four-minute mark to effectively ended our chances. Iannunzio kicked the Kings only goal for the last term, the final margin 32 points, a decisive one in the conditions. Best players – Tully Kennett, Seb Wilckens, Kane Pearson, Ollie Ormsby, Jamieson Rankine.

Injury update – Max Read and Dylan Hopkins were both not quite fit enough to play on Saturday, hopefully both will be back this week. Levi Johnston requires a knee operation and sadly will be out for the season. It was good to he and see Seb Wauer at the footy on Saturday – but he is also out for 2026, having had a blood clot which requires him to be on blood thinners for quite some time.

Ned Carruthers has a leg injury which will see him out for some time. We wish all those lads well and look forward to seeing them around supporting throughout the season. This week, Harry Willis is back from overseas and available for selection.

B GRADE – Pembroke 11.12 (78) def Seaton Ramblers 6.6 (42)

The first quarter was an even affair, the second saw the Kings start to ease away to lead by 10 points at half time, Lucas Saunders having three goals to half time. An excellent second half saw the lads ease away to win comfortably, Saunders best on ground and finished with six goals, next best Ollie Borda, Finn Burns, Archie Williams (two goals), Jonty Jamieson. Skipper Sam Carruthers and Tom Reid also played well.

C GRADE – Pembroke 8.8 (56) lost to Seaton Ramblers 9.7 (61)

The Kings had first use of the breeze to add 3.0 to 1.1 to lead at quarter time. Seaton made better use of it in the second, adding 4.4 to 0.2 to have a handy lead of 15 points at half time. The third term saw the Kings fightback and with a quarter to go were right in it to trail by two points. The last quarter saw some good footy played by the Kings as they trailed by just five points with just a minute left on the clock. Some confusion over the 6-6-6 rule saw the Kings initially given a free, but that was changed to a bounce which wasted valuable seconds, in the end the lads just fell short of their first win of the season. Best: Stewart Watts, Charlie Bowen, Harrison Prosser, Bill Newman, Darren Nguyen. Riley Wake kicked three goals.

D GRADE – Pembroke 7.5 (47) lost at Modbury 19.16 (130)

A tough day at Modbury for the lads, but they stuck at it against some experienced opposition. Best - Alexander Favretto, Hugo Sutton, Jake Elias, Ash Rawlinson and Lachy Gurner in his first game this season.

QUEENS – Pembroke 2.5 (17) lost at Flinders Park 4.4 (28)

Like last week the Queens led early, kicking a couple of goals in the first quarter. After that though they struggled score but at the last change trailed by only three points. The home side added a goal, the Queens sadly couldn’t score to go down by 11 points. Best - Indira Panelli, Ella Manning, Daisy Snell, Roszi Bentley, Amara Black
