This is the Club's weekly newsletter, The Royal Review. You might notice it's a bit different to previous iterations, please bare with us as we seek to modernise and streamline the publication. Each week you will be able to access the newsletter by accessing the POSFC website and browsing the latest articles through the navigation menu. There may be errors or bugs as we change our processes, so any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Team Selection

A Grade

Who to watch:
The A Grade is looking red-hot heading into Round 1 with strong recruitment in the off-season. Harry Willis joins us as a starting on-baller, Mitch Thiele a smart and skillfull half -back, Levi Johnston as a speedy left-footer, Rory Switajewski as second ruck, and Henry Read returning as a new full-forward.

It has also been great to see Archie Richardson voted into the A Grade leadership group this year, joining returning leaders Oliver Harms (C), Dylan Hopkins (VC), Ned Kennett, and Magnus Illman.

B Grade

Who to watch:
When referring to team selection on Thursday night, A Grade Coach Charles Canny said that in many ways, the B Grade team of this week could have once been an A Grade side in our past. This goes to show the calibre of players in this team! It's super exciting to see first year leavers Mitch Rees, Jonty Jamieson and Tom Felice joining the club in impressive form, while returning players Sebastian Wilckens, Lachie Buchan, Louis McRostie, Jono Duffy, Will Ross, Venkha Sivashanker, Sam Carruthers, Peter Clayer, and Ollie Ormsby round out a team with lots of A Grade experience. 

It's also great to see the club continue to back in our returning leaders in Sam Carruthers (C), Will Ross (VC), and Sam Ross (VC).

Queens

Who to watch:
Queens Coach Aba Tomich says the girls are the fittest he's seen them, and with a trial game win over a Division 1 side, why not have a bit of confidence? This year's Queens squad has once-again seen a large turnover of players as we continue to recruit heavily in leavers from the school program. Be sure to watch last year's Division Medalist Indira Panelli, while new players Lola Rugari, Chloe Tucker and Evie Blanks have all impressed in the pre-season. Returning players Alice Montgomery and Ella Manning are also set to have a big season.

This year the Queens voted on a new leadership group in Ashlea Carter (C), Alice Montgomery (VC), Lucy Hammond (VC), Tally Jongeneel, Ella Manning, and Ailis Nolan.

C Grade

Who to watch:
With strong depth in the Kings squad, and a fierce leader in returning Coach James "Lemon" Brennan, our C Grade are primed to be a fast and exciting team in 2026. It's exciting to see school leavers Will Cameron, Alex Lee, Will Holland, Harrison Prosser, Max Davis, and Riley Wake all getting their first games - there is no doubt we will come to expect some of these names in higher grades soon. Brilliant to also see returning youth in Stewart Watts, Ethan Holmes, Toby Wilks, Dan Martin, Jimmy Miller, Seb Sobels, Daniel Sims and Archie Williams to round out a team that is sure to be exciting to watch.

The club has once again backed in the C Grade leadership group of Vincent Zito (C), Josh Teakle, Bill Newman, and Max Nicholls.

D Grade

Who to watch:
With strong registration numbers, the Club is delighted to welcome a fourth men's team back to the Kings, and we couldn't be more grateful to returning D Grader Jake Elias for putting his hand up to lead the D's as Player-Coach. A team made of predominantly fresh-faces, be sure to keep an eye-out for the best players as some might just rise up the ranks very quickly.

Milestones

Congratulations to Magnus Illman for bringing up his 100th game for POSFC this weekend!

Better known as the left-footed bull in our A Grade's midfield, Magnus is often the game changer who can sneak forward for a goal or lay a game winning tackle.

A two-time Best and Fairest ('23 and '24), and 2022 Premiership Player, he's certainly made an impact in his first 99 games at the Club.
