The Kings are back home for Vice-Patrons Day in a triple-header against PHOS, while our D Grade face PACOC away. A special mention also to Luke Lovelock who makes his A Grade debut in his 50th game!

It was tough string of results for the As, Bs and Queens on the weekend.
The A Grade were competitive bar one quarter leaving them out of the game and fighting back for the second half. Sadly injuries were not on our side with Ollie Borda going down early with a shoulder injury, while captain Ollie Harms and Rory Switajewski did their hamstrings.
The Queens sadly went down in a must-win game. Well done to the Girls on a fantastic season - make sure to read Indira's report above. More mentions of the Queens season later in the newsletter.
However, it was awesome to see the C Grade on the winners list with a strong performance with few men to play with. Well done Lemon and his Glamours!

Congratulations to Luke Lovelock who has been called up for his debut game in the A Grade! Following Ollie Harms going down, we are in need for a strong key defender, and with Lovers getting in the best 8/13 games this year, we know we are in safe hands with him tomorrow. Mitch Rees also comes in with Harry Roberts having a neck injury, while Will Cameron and Tom Duffy also return to our forward line.
Jonty Jamieson returns to the B Grade this week, bolstering the team in a big clash which may be a finals prelude for the B Grade.
We have a very big milestone to celebrate this week! Venks arrives at 200 games making him a Life Member of the Club! An important note for keen eyes - there was an error with Peter Clayer's milestone count, it has been corrected to 246, meaning he is on track to reach 250 on Round 18!

Last Saturday marked the end of the Queens season, marking 6 years of the Women's team in the ADFL.
Teams like this don't exist without the considerable work of volunteers at our club and in the community. We would like to thank Coach Aba Tomich for his work this year, as he continues to take the Queens to new heights and standards. His commitment to the team is reflected in the girls by-in to play each week. Thank you Aba.
We would also like to thank assistants Mirsad Abdic, Geoff Black and Jamie Panelli, who have all given their time up to help the Queens throughout the year.
Well done also to Lucy Hammond, who took up the daunting task of being team manager - ensuring all gameday and training operations are met for the Queens. This is not an easy task and requires lots of dedicated time. Thank you Lucy for your work.
Finally, thank you to all the family, friends and supporters who have helped and attended Queens games this year. Your support is greatly appreciated. We hope to see you all as the Kings continue their year through August!

"Cash raffle will be held on the 8th of August at the Kensi straight after presentations. It is always a great night on the POSFC social calendar so make sure you don’t miss out!
For those who don’t know how cash raffle works, it’s pretty simple. Every ticket you purchase puts you in the draw to win big cash prizes! Over the course of the night, ticket numbers will be drawn out until we are left with one standing and be crowned our winner. You will also have a chance you buy back into the raffle over the course of the night!
The winning ticket number will win $2000!!! And there are more cash prizes for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and last place! The club will also put on a bar tab on the night but you must have a ticket to be involved!

The Reserves suffered a disappointing loss to North Haven, with the match exposing deficiencies in contest work, defensive accountability, execution of team structures, and adherence to the game plan. While there were periods where we moved the ball effectively and created opportunities, North Haven consistently outworked the us around stoppages, spread harder from contests, and capitalised on scoring opportunities far more efficiently.
A recurring theme throughout the game was the our inability to execute our established system. The leadership group identified a significant departure from the game plan that had underpinned success in previous seasons, including poor use of the P1 option, limited switching of play, ineffective defensive structures, and an overreliance on bailout kicks under pressure.
At stoppages, North Haven gained a clear advantage through stronger contest work and superior defensive transition. Our midfield was often positioned too offensively, allowing easy front-of-stoppage exits and enabling North Haven to transition quickly into attack. Defensive support structures, particularly the D1, D2, D3 principles, were inconsistently applied throughout the game.
While skills were below our normal standard, this was likely driven by a combination of North Haven's pressure and lapses in concentration. Opportunities were created, particularly late in the third quarter and early in the final quarter, but poor execution and an inability to convert momentum into scoreboard pressure proved costly.
Most concerning was the final quarter, where we lost composure, structure, and fight. As North Haven maintained intensity, our defensive effort declined, allowing the opposition to dictate play and finish strongly. The loss serves as an important reminder that success is built on discipline, work rate, and collective commitment to the game plan.

It was a do-or-die clash for the Pembroke Queens on the weekend as we took on Westminster with a spot in the finals up for grabs. We came in ready to give it everything, and from the first bounce it was exactly the contest we expected. It was a tough arm wrestle all day, with Westminster relying on a few key players to keep them going, while we matched them with our pressure, work rate, and willingness to compete.
Our pressure around the ball and commitment at every contest was a real highlight, with countless players stepping up when it mattered most. It was fantastic to see contributions come from all over the ground. Up forward, Amber Hopkins was once again a constant threat, finishing with another handful of goals. Whenever the ball was in her hands in front of goal, there was never much doubt she’d make the most of the opportunity. Our skipper also led the way, as she has all season, setting the standard with her attack on the footy and ability to stand up when the game was on the line.
After a hard-fought three quarters, Westminster were able to pull away late in the final term, with the final scoreboard not quite reflecting how even the contest had been. While it wasn’t the result we were chasing, the effort and determination shown by the group all day is something we can be proud of.
