It was a tough day at Seaton, going up against the second placed Ramblers. The A Grade and C Grade struggled in wet conditions, but the B Grade pulled off an outstanding win. The Queens narrowly went down to Lockleys.
Time to bounce back, as we host Kilburn at Haslam this week in another must-win set of matches.

Tough result for the A Grade this week, but as Chucky said at the game, it was really promising to see the team stand up despite the conditions and compete all day. As described by Loz in his newsletter earlier this week, it was clear we were underdone with injury, but the boys who stood up to play in the A Grade showed a lot of promise. The C Grade experienced a similar defeat, while many lads stood up and competed hard, we just didn't have our best team to get over the line. This unfortunately puts Lemon's C Grade with the need to win all of their games from here to make finals.
The B Grade was a completely different story. Although we had about 12 changes, the wet conditions kept the game as a low scoring affair. With the Bings needing to double our score in the last, finishing with a 4 point win was as Wighty described "one of the best wins he has experienced at the club". I agree. With debutants like Daniel Sims, Max Nicholls, and D Grade skipper Jake Elias standing up and leading the charge it was a genuinely gutsy win that keeps the B Grade firmly in finals contention going into the end of the year.
The Queens also fought hard out at Lockleys but just went down, while the D Grade unfortunately had to forfeit due to so many numbers lost from injury, sickness, work and travel.

Some huge ins this week for the A Grade for a must-win game at the House of Slam. Max Read comes back from his Europe holiday, while Sam Gecz, Henry Read, Tully Kennett, and Seb Wilckens all return. Shout out Seb (aka Silk) who has returned from a broken cheek bone! Ouch.
This bolsters the B Grade and C Grade stocks this week. Great to see Finn Burns returning this week, while the big red greaser Michael Guerin comes back from working in Townsville.

For those who don’t know how cash raffle works, it’s pretty simple. Every ticket you purchase puts you in the draw to win big cash prizes! Over the course of the night, ticket numbers will be drawn out until we are left with one standing and be crowned our winner. You will also have a chance you buy back into the raffle over the course of the night!

We produced a resilient and hard-fought 4-point victory (38–34) over Seaton in extremely challenging weather conditions. The win was built on exceptional team defence, relentless pressure, and a collective commitment to playing for one another despite significant disruption, including 12 changes during the week.
The defining characteristic of the performance was our ability to adapt to the conditions while maintaining our defensive pressure. Across the first half, we restricted Seaton to just four points despite the difficult weather and consistently pressured opposition ball carriers into rushed decisions. Our commitment to working in support chains, with our midfield assisting defence and forwards working back into team defence structures, was a standout feature.
While the effort and intensity were excellent, we failed to fully capitalise on periods of dominance. Poor conversion and repeated entries into low-percentage areas resulted in a scoreline of 4.14, keeping Seaton in the game despite often controlling territory and possession. Better decision-making and ball placement in attacking areas remain key improvement areas.
The third quarter presented the greatest challenge, with Seaton using a significant wind advantage to gain momentum. We responded well, limiting the damage and keeping us within reach before producing a strong final quarter comeback. Our ability to remain composed, maintain effort, and execute under pressure ultimately secured the result.
Overall, the victory demonstrated our growing maturity, resilience, and commitment to team-first football. While there are clear opportunities to improve scoring efficiency and execution, the ability to win under adverse conditions highlights strong character and adherence to the team's defensive identity.

The Queens played Lockleys on Saturday afternoon which felt like the coldest day of the year.
Lockleys got off to a good start kicking two quick goals out of the middle and having plenty more shots on goal. But the Queens switched on towards the end of the quarter having a few shots finally kicking a goal before the quarter time siren.
Going into the second quarter the rain started bucketing and the oval quickly filled with puddles and half a foot of mud through the middle of the ground. The Queens took this in their stride and kept attacking throughout the second and third quarters having most of the ball but they were not making the most of their opportunities.
In the final quarter the Queens held Lockleys to only score one point but unfortunately went down 22-33 despite a good physical effort throughout the game.
Special mentions to Lucy White who was strong in the air despite the rain but went down with an ankle injury due to the muddy conditions. As well as Tally Jongeneel for her constant run up the ground and intercepts from defence.
The Queens take on Modbury in Modbury this week in a must win for their hopeful finals campaign.

Travelling to Seaton for Round 12, we fielded a very different side to the previous few weeks, with a number of players making their C Grade debut. While the result didn't go our way, there were still plenty of encouraging signs as the group continued to build connections against a well-drilled opponent. Seaton proved too strong on the day, running out 11.12 (78) to 3.3 (21) winners.
Our backline worked tirelessly under pressure, with Hugo Sutton and Will Belej standing tall all afternoon. Both competed strongly in the air and defended resolutely despite the constant supply coming Seaton's way. Up forward, Funky Miller provided plenty of spark at half forward, linking our midfield and attack well with his work rate and ball use. Stewart Watts continued his consistent form through the midfield, while Alex Painter produced one of his best games of the season, winning clearances at the contest before working hard to find space and provide an option on the outside.
