The Royal Review
It was a sensational day for the Kings on Saturday, taking on the old rivals Adelaide Uni at Haslam. We had about 100 past players in attendance for the club's Past Players Day, and the Kings did them proud with three wins against Uni.
The D Grade went down to Rostrevor, and the Queens had a draw with Flinders Park.

What a day it was for the Kings at home!
Three wins against Uni was a perfect fit with the additional supporters coming out for Past Players Day. The C Grade win was a particular highlight, as Uni currently sits top of the C3 competition, making that win a big upset in the day and providing Lemon's Glamours a lot of confidence in the back-half of the season.
Across the road at Kensi Oval (which by the way is still looking amazing despite the weather), the Queens played in a nail-biter, with Amber Hopkins being the hero to bring us to a draw in the dying stages of the game.
Unfortunately Jake's D's couldn't get up over ROCS at Campbelltown. A special shout-out to some schoolboys who helped fill in for this game (Zac and Luke McKeegan, and Sam Wilks) - apparently they were running rings around their opponents! Awesome to see these boys will play again this week.

What a day it was for Past Players Day.
Thank you to everyone who showed up at Haslam Oval last Saturday. With a sold-out lunch and then massive numbers watching the A Grade, it was a massive crowd and great celebration of our Club.
It was great to see so many of the players from the 1986, 1996 and 2016 Premiership reunions, many of whom joined for celebrations at the Kensi late into the night!

We delivered a dominant 75-point victory (109–34), underpinned by sustained pressure, strong work rate, and improved ball movement across the four quarters. We demonstrated clear progression in our pressure-based identity, with forward pressure, tackling intensity, and team defence playing a decisive role in controlling the game.
The match showcased the effectiveness of whole-team defence, with forwards contributing higher up the ground to slow opposition transitions and create repeat forward 50 entries. As the game progressed, Our run, carry, and ball use improved, resulting in better scoring opportunities and scoreboard conversion.
Despite the strong result, opportunities remain to elevate performance further. Forward 50 efficiency and composure were inconsistent, with rushed entries and low-percentage shots limiting scoring potential. Additionally, transition defence and structural discipline at times allowed Adelaide Uni to exit too easily, highlighting the need for clarity between zoning and man-on-man setups.
At the contest level, there is a continued focus on physical commitment, strength, and decision-making under pressure, including absorbing tackles and maintaining possession integrity. Improved connection between ruck and midfield is also an area for refinement to maximise stoppage advantage.

The Queens faced off against Flinders Park in a tightly contested match that ended in a thrilling draw! The opening quarter saw Flinders Park gain the early advantage, with the Queens struggling to bring their usual aggression and fight for the ball. Unfortunately we went into quarter time 13 points down, keen to improve our defensive efforts and stay closer to our opponents. The second and third quarters saw a momentum shift, with Amber and Ailis playing key roles in getting us on the scoreboard and helping the Queens take the lead by one point heading into the final quarter.
The last quarter of the match was very close, with both teams wanting to take the win. Roszi Bentley did an awesome job in the midfield, winning clearances and creating forward opportunities. Willow Mconnell-Psaltis was also crucial, tagging her opponent who was an asset for the opposition.
With only 30 seconds remaining, the queens were down by one and the ball was lingering at the boundary in our forward line. Luckily Amber stepped up and kicked a clutch point with only seconds to spare, bringing the scores level and securing a hard-fought draw.

Fresh off our memorable win over second-placed Walkerville, we returned home to host Adelaide Uni on Past Players Day. It was a special occasion, with guernseys presented before the game by members of previous Glamour sides, adding plenty of motivation before the first bounce.
We couldn’t have asked for a better start, coming out with great intensity to kick five goals in the opening quarter and take control early. Adelaide Uni responded well, lifting their pressure and working their way back into the contest, reducing the margin to just a goal heading into the third term. The game was there to be won by either side, but our boys refused to give in. We stood strong in the final quarter before sealing the result with a late goal, running out deserved 8.7 (55) to 6.7 (43) winners and handing Adelaide Uni their first loss of the season.
Josh Angus produced the defining moment of the day with a remarkable one-versus-three intercept mark deep in defence – the Leo Barry moment of the Glams season. Around the contest, Ash Rawlinson gave our midfield first use all afternoon with an outstanding ruck performance, allowing Jack Robinson and Stewy Watts to consistently drive us forward. Max Nicholls was our standout, reading the play superbly behind the ball and repeatedly cutting off Uni attacks before using it brilliantly by foot.
It was a genuine team performance where every player embraced their role and contributed to an important victory. The win lifts us to 6th on the ladder with a 5-5 record and sets up a huge clash this week against 5th-placed Lockleys as we continue our push towards finals.

Taking on top of the table Rostrevor away was always going to be our toughest challenge of the season. Despite that, we went into the game with plenty of belief, fielding a fresh-looking side that included a number of our young guns.
The boys fought incredibly hard throughout the first half. Our defence stood up under constant pressure, limiting Rostrevor to very few quality scoring opportunities, while our younger players provided plenty of run and carry through the midfield. We created our own chances going forward and, at the main break, were right in the contest, trailing by only a couple of goals against the competition's benchmark side.
Unfortunately, the third quarter was once again where the game slipped away, with Rostrevor able to capitalise on their opportunities. Despite the scoreboard, the boys never dropped their heads. They continued to compete right until the final siren, showing great resilience and determination. I couldn't have been prouder of the effort from everyone. No one took a backward step, and while the result didn't fall our way, there were plenty of positives to take out of the performance.

Will Belej was best on once again, producing another outstanding performance in defence. He read the play brilliantly, spoiled everything that came his way, and provided plenty of drive with his rebound from half-back.
Mitchell George played a terrific game through the midfield, battling hard all day, winning plenty of the footy, and finishing with two well-deserved goals. Let's just hope we get a few more dry days than wet ones for the rest of the season!
Hugo Sutton rounded out the best players after another outstanding lockdown role at full back. Alongside Will, the pair continue to be the Batman and Robin of our defence, giving us confidence every time the ball comes their way.
We'll take plenty of confidence from this performance into our clash with Lockleys this week. If we can bring the same intensity, effort and belief for four quarters, we'll give ourselves every chance to come away with a result.
