Queens and C Grade have great wins!
A, B and D Grade all suffer losses.

A Grade

Pembroke 7.6 (48) lost at Walkerville 14.15 (99)

On a very boggy Walkerville Oval the hosts got off to a strong start kicking the opening goal, before Tom Duffy kicked a ripper right on the boundary at the five-minute mark. The Cats dominated field play for the rest of the term and had they kicked 7.3 instead of 3.7 would have led by a lot more than 18 points down at quarter time.
The second quarter saw the lads really play well as we peeled off three goals in a row to level things up. Henry Read kicked a couple and Tyson Matthews also goaled as we had our best passages of play for the match. There was plenty of run as we took the game right up to the third placed Cats. Walkerville goaled to take back the lead and just on the break Will Kennett kicked a ripper, to get the margin back to just a point at half time.
The third quarter saw the Cats start well as they kicked the first three goals as we looked under the pump. The second part of the term saw a more even contest, Henry Read kicking his third to get the margin to 18 points at three quarter-time.
With the game up still for grabs the Cats took charge with early scores and were too strong in the last term adding six goals to one to run out winners by 51 points. Best - Ned Kennett, Kane Pearson, Sam Gecz, Louis McRostie, Tully Kennett, while Henry Read kicked 4 goals.

B Grade

Pembroke 4.3 (27) lost at Walkerville 11.9 (75)

The B’s started well with Seb Sobels snapping a ripper of a goal in the first few minutes. James O’Halloran also kicked a couple in the term to give the Kings a 10-point lead at quarter time. Walkerville were out the blocks in the second term kicking two quick goals to even up the game. Riley Wake took a great mark and kicked our only goal for the term, the Cats ahead by three points at half time.
The second half was a struggle as Walkerville got well on top kicking seven goals to nil to run out easy winners.

Queens

Pembroke 9.6 (60) won at Glenunga 3.6 (24)

The Queens got off to a great start when Amber Hopkins marked strongly and kick the first goal. They Queens had plenty of the play and Indi Panelli was in everything, kicking a brilliant goal from long range as we led 2.2 to 0.1 at quarter time. The second term saw the team play some of their best footy for the year as Chloe Tucker kicked a couple of goals from marks, while Ailis Nolan also kicked one to give us a 26-point lead at half time. It was more of the same in the second term as Indi along with Alice Montgomery were playing well, Hopkins adding to the lead with a long goal. The defence kept Glenunga goalless for the quarter as we went in 38 points clear with a term to play. The last term was even, the final margin six goals in what was a cracking win by the Queens as they led from go to woe under lights.

C Grade

Pembroke 8.7 (55) won at Walkerville 4.5 (29)

The C grade level of experience went up a notch as A grade coach Charles Canny was joined on field on Saturday by coaching staff Jarvo and Jed. All played a part after the team came from seven points down at half time to win 26. Coach Canny kicked three goals as did Harvey Wood, in a much-needed win for James Brennan’s team.

D Grade

Pembroke 3.2 (20) lost to Adelaide Uni 14.6 (90) at Haslam

The D grade had a real crack once again, Uni just a bit classier in the first term when they added 6.0 to 2.1. The lads more than matched Uni in the second term, before a few goals late saw the margin move out further. The third term was even as the lads stuck at the task, while in the last the Kings kicked a deserved third goal for all the hard work put in during the game.

MID SEASON LUNCH AT THE KENSI LAST SUNDAY

A great day was had by 50 plus people that came along. Coach Charles Canny spoke about the year so far, former Adelaide Oval curator Les Burdett entertained the patrons prior to the main course, with some great stories. Then after mains, SACA coach Ryan Harris gave us some great insights on coaching the SA team to the two Sheffield Shield titles, along with his reflections on playing 27 Tests for Australia.

Most patrons got their photo with the Shield and a big thanks to past-president Kathy Carruthers for conducting the raffle. Prize winners – Rob Silvestre (AO AFL tickets), Peter Noblet (Shaw and Smith wine), Craig Hammond (Thomas Foods meat) and Sam Carruthers (Norwood FC barrel)
