President's Report

A & B GRADE LOSE AT HOME, C GRADE WIN AND MOVE INTO TOP FIVE

The win by the C grade was the highlight of the day, the win putting them into the top five, while the B’s and A’s were soundly beaten. With the day not going completely as planned we need to find at least one win in the A grade over the final three rounds, or we will find ourselves in Division four next year.

A Grade

Pembroke 4.12 (36) lost to PHOS Camden 13.8 (86)

With several changes to the team from last week, Luke Lovelock was selected for his A grade debut after some consistent form in the B grade. Venka Sivashanker was also playing his 200th senior game and led the team out onto Haslam. The Kings were up and about in the early part of the game, dominating general play as PHOS Camden looked rattled. Archie Richardson found Henry Read who just missed a shot to the right but shortly after Armando Iannunzio snapped truly for our first major. Given all the play the Kings had we just couldn’t quite put the score on the board until close to time-on Tyson Matthews kicked a goal to give us a handy lead at the first change.

The second term was tight early as PHOS Camden started to work themselves into the game. PHOS started to move the ball well made the most of their chances to hit the lead midway through the term. Our skill level in the term was at time very poor, as PHOS had more speed around the ground and added 5.4 to our one behind to have a 19-point lead at half time.

Pembroke needed a big third term to get back into the game but sadly for all the hard work, shots at goal were missed and opportunities wasted. Each time we got the ball forward and missed at goal, PHOS ran it back down the ground to kick major and make us pay, which added to their lead. It was a frustrating term for all concerned for the Kings as PHOS took the game by the scruff of the neck to lead by 45 points at the last change.

The last term saw the Kings fight hard as Tom Duffy kicked our first goal for nearly two quarters, with Iannunzio later kicking his second of the day. The final margin of 50 points saw us slip to ninth on the ladder and into relegation territory with three rounds to go.

B Grade

Pembroke 3.9 (27) lost PHOS Camden 12.4 (76)

The first term was low scoring affair, the Kings the only side to goal to have the early advantage at quarter time. PHOS Camden opened the game in the second quarter to add five goals, while the Kings had chances but were inaccurate in adding 1.5. The Phantoms completely took control in the third quarter and went on with the job to hand us 49-point defeat.

C Grade

Pembroke 12.4 (76) def PHOS Camden 7.7 (49)

In what was a must win game as the C grade looks to make finals, the lads had the better of the early stages and led at quarter time by five points. The second term saw the Kings get on top as they added four to goals to nothing, with Harvey Wood in top form in the forward line. The second half saw the Kings maintain their lead as they ran out winners to move into fourth spot on the ladder with three games to go.

Best was Harvey Wood (8 goals), Hal Ives, Daniel Martin, Ash Rawlinson, Zac Teo.

D Grade

Pembroke 2.2 (14) def by Prince Alfred OC 20.19 (139) at Park 9

Tough old day for the lads at Park 9 as PAOC showed no mercy to win by 125 points. Best - Fred Ligertwood, Mitchell George, Archie Allert, Jake Elias, Hugo Sutton
